About Siem Reap
Siem Reap exists because of Angkor Wat, but it has grown into a destination worth visiting in its own right. The temples of Angkor are, of course, the main draw. Watching the sun rise over Angkor Wat, with its five iconic towers reflected in the surrounding moat, is one of those travel moments that truly lives up to the hype. Beyond the main temple, the Angkor complex sprawls across hundreds of square kilometers, with jungle-engulfed ruins like Ta Prohm and the enigmatic stone faces of Bayon providing endless exploration. Back in town, Siem Reap surprises with its lively Pub Street, excellent Cambodian cuisine, and a growing arts scene. The city is also one of the most affordable destinations in Southeast Asia, making it possible to explore ancient wonders and still have money left over for a cold Angkor beer by the pool.
